In 2018, the 3D MDM IF worked intensively on version 3.0 of the I++ DMS standard. The long-term goal is to create an interface format that maps all the necessary information within the quality process. The Implementor Forum was launched in 2017 and its participants comprise software vendors involved with industrial measurement processes. They validate the interface definition and discuss adaptations.
The issues compiled last year were resolved and further extensions were executed within the framework of implementing the interface and performing data exchange tests between the participants. The schema was also revised. This included documentation of the classes and attributes, a uniform naming convention and expansion of the Implementation Guideline. A new version of the standard has thus been created and will be published as soon as possible.
It is planned that the standard be extended to include services in 2019. Initial preparations were made in 2018, and these will be concluded with the addition of new functions. In addition to an I++ Day planned for April to promote the standard, it is also intended that the standard undergo more rigorous testing with users. An I++ DME sub-group will also be set up to ensure that work is performed on the interface between DMS and the machine-oriented standard.
