Abstract
The FAICE project (Framework for AI-enabled Collaborative Engineering), initiated by the prostep ivip Association, confronts the challenges of integrating AI into collaborative engineering workflows. This paper provides a deep dive into our working prototype of an AI-powered "Standards Chatbot," which proves the viability of securely and legally utilizing licensed, sensitive data across corporate boundaries.
Our work reveals that the main obstacles to adopting AI are not technical, but systemic. We address critical issues such as data readiness, granular access control, and the significant hurdles posed by existing licensing models. The paper outlines how we have navigated these complexities, offering a practical framework and a clear path forward for organizations to transition from legacy, document-centric workflows to more efficient, information-driven paradigms.
