Taking up the challenges of digitization is one of the main tasks faced
by the prostep ivip association. Besides increasing virtuality with regard
to modelling in product development and production system development, it
will be important in the future to design and manage cyber-physical
systems, resulting in a continuous digitization in form of unstructured
data streams of highly networked technical systems.
At the annual
meeting of the „Plattform Lernende Systeme“ (Germany’s platform for
Artificial Intelligence) which was held in Berlin in the beginning of
July, the importance of AI-solutions was intensively discussed and an
urgent demand for the application of AI in industrial product and
production solutions was identified: major efforts and large volumes of
funding are envisaged in this field for the coming years.
In this
respect, the project „Digital Preparation for Digital Analysis (DPDA)”,
headed by MG3, plays an important role. After a preliminary phase the
project will be transferred in September to the next consortial phase and
the lead will be taken by the Fraunhofer IPK and the TU
Dortmund.
In this context I would like to make you aware of a
special event this fall: the 19th Production Technology Colloquium (PTK
2019). It will be held September 12 - 13, 2019 in Berlin under the title
„Digitally integrated Production“ and will host a special workshop for AI
in Engineering and Production.
