Taking up the challenges of digitization is one of the main tasks faced
by the prostep ivip association. Besides increasing virtuality with regard
to modelling in product development and production system development, it
will be important in the future to design and manage cyber-physical
systems, resulting in a continuous digitization in form of unstructured
data streams of highly networked technical systems.

White paper published by the SSB (Standardization Strategy Board) project group
"Collaborative Systems Engineering on the Basis of Engineering IT
Standards" is the title of the white paper recently published by the SSB
project group. The Standardization Strategy Board (SSB) is a project
initiated by the German Association of the Automotive Industry (VDA) and
carried out by the prostep ivip Association. It was set up in 2017 with
the aim of enabling future cross-company systems engineering, i.e.
collaborative systems engineering(CSE), on the basis of engineering IT
standards. To do this, the prostep ivip Association analyzed and
prioritized the IT standards relevant to systems engineering for the first
time in order to derive common strategies and recommendations for their
use and implementation. The objective is to achieve end-to-end coverage of
the business objects and interfaces needed in the CSE process on the basis
of these engineering IT standards.

controlling PLM projects requires specific competences. The certificate
training course PLM Professional provides in 2 steps (Level A and Level B)
practical knowledge and skills tailored to the specific problems of PLM.
Since 2013 the training has proven its worth as a qualification program at
KMUs as well as DAX companies from various industries. More than 120
trained PLM professionals are already applying their expertise in
practice. In fall 2019 the Fraunhofer Society will offer the course on the
Symposium 2020 Call for Contribution: the next round starts in September!
The prostep ivip Symposium owes its success and popularity to widely
