ReqIF Workflow Forum (ReqIF WF)

Duration

since 2016

Mission

Since 2016, the activities conducted by prostep ivip in the field of requirements management have been supplemented by the ReqIF Workflow Forum (ReqIF WF) with the aim of promoting wider dissemination and industrial application of the ReqIF standard.

The user companies in the ReqIF WF have set themselves the task of looking at processes and exchange scenarios together. In addition to the test activities conducted in the ReqIF Implementor Forum (ReqIF IF), appropriate use cases are defined and a reference process developed. These are used to derive user stories and test scenarios that are then addressed in the ReqIF IF and tested in benchmarks. The three project groups work closely with each other.

Milestones 2021

The ReqIF WF published an update to the ReqIF Recommendation, including adapted use of the Q-Checker and correction of the status matrix for status attributes. In addition, the exchange workflow has now been structured more clearly, thus improving readability.

The use cases “Collaboration“ and “Change Management“ have been put on hold for the time being due to a lack of demand on the part of the participants. The use case “Mapping functionality“ was formulated instead. It describes the assignment of attributes and attribute values between ReqIF and the RM tool. The so-called “default process“ was developed together with the Implementor Forum. It provides a detailed description of the requirements that tools need to meet in exchange scenarios.

The fourth ReqIF benchmark was also launched. Test scenarios and criteria were defined together with the ReqIF IF. The main difference between this benchmark and the 2020 benchmark was that it involved a more complicated exchange scenario in which multiple exchanges take place between a customer and suppliers.

Outlook 2022

In 2022, the ReqIF WF will continue to work on the existing use cases and will define new use cases. It is also intended that the previously defined criteria for the fourth benchmark be defined in greater detail together with the ReqIF IF.
