ReqIF Implementor Forum (ReqIF IF)

Duration

since 2011

Mission

Established in 2011, the objective of the ReqIF Implementor Forum (ReqIF IF) is to ensure the interoperability of ReqIF exchange tools. The ReqIF Implementor Forum is where tool vendors come together to agree on conventions that go beyond the ReqIF standard, conduct interoperability tests, discuss insights gained "in the field" and prepare ReqIF benchmarks. All this is done in close cooperation with the ReqIF Workflow Forum (ReqIF WF), which in its capacity as a user forum harmonizes processes, use cases and test scenarios.

Milestones 2021

The ReqIF IF provided support for the launch of the fourth ReqIF benchmark. To this end, test scenarios and test criteria were defined together with the ReqIF WF. The main difference between this benchmark and the 2020 benchmark was that it involved a more complicated exchange scenario in which multiple exchanges take place between a customer and suppliers.

A new convention for handling the accuracy of floating point numbers has been drawn up and documented in the Implementation Guide.

In addition to address technical issues, a work product considered important by both vendors and tool users in the Workflow Forum is what is referred to as the “default process“ for the use case “Stakeholder Request Clarification (SRC)“. It provides a detailed description of the requirements that tools need to meet in exchange scenarios. This process was brought to a close in 2021 and will be published by prostep ivip.

Outlook 2022

Now that the first exchange between customer and supplier was performed in the fourth benchmark in 2021, the details of further exchanges will be reviewed together with the ReqIF WF and revised if necessary in 2022. The vendors are working on applying the knowledge gained from last benchmark in their tools. In addition, independent findings based on the use of tools in practice will be discussed and new conventions will be drawn up as needed. Existing issues from JIRA will also be dealt with.
