since 2015
Efficient processes for coordinating scheduling make an important contribution to digital transformation in collaborative PLM processes. The more complex products and collaboration networks are, the more important efficient methods for synchronization (PSMS) across departmental and company boundaries become. The group is therefore developing recommendations based on the STEP AP242 Business Object Model. The standardized communication modules support both conventional and agile methods, are IT-independent and can, for example, be implemented via the asynchronous exchange of schedules or in shared applications via portal services or cloud solutions. They ensure the stability and efficiency of processes across all disciplines and between the different ecosystems maintained by the partners (OEMs, suppliers).
Two of the seven synchronization levels have been specified and adopted in PSI-25 “PSMS Recommendations“ V1.0 based on the requirements of the companies involved, the PM reference process in DIN69901-4, the Collaboration Project Management recommendations (PSI1-1 and PSI1-2) and the recommendations from the Project Management Institute©. The PSM schema contains modules for synchronizing project master data, work packages (summary operations), milestones and their dependencies in the planned (target) state and current (implemented) state. A comprehensive set of rules safeguards the cross-partner communication processes and the consistency of information throughout the network. Both initial scheduling and incremental scenarios (delta transfers) are supported over the entire duration of the project.
Focus in 2022 will be placed on the implementation projects for the PSMS recommendations at and by the participating companies, which will be coordinated in the PSMS Implementor Forum (IF). The PSMS IF provides a neutral platform for testing and the exchange of information and experience and is supported by the PSMS Workflow Forum (WF). It is intended that feedback from the pilots be incorporated into PSI-25 as improvements and be published together with the English version. Planning also includes the functional phases of expansion with level 2.1 to 2.3 for synchronizing entire process structures and the links to the objects and deliverables affected. This means that PSM synchronization expands product data management to include the process-related artifacts needed for schedule management. The cross-enterprise planning process will be demonstrated at the prostep ivip Symposium using examples.
