The highlight of 2018 was the 4th JT Day, held 5 November at the Volkswagen Arena in Wolfsburg. The event was attended by more than 140 participants from all over the globe and from every branch of industry. The presentations, including six presentations on a variety of JT-specific topics and application scenarios involving JT, as well as a summary of the successful standardization of JT as DIN Spec 91383, were extremely popular. JT vendors used short videos to provide greater insight into the topics mobile visualization, simulation tools and VR devices. The event was neatly rounded off by an exhibition with 13 stands.
The JT Workflow Forum not only participated in prostep ivip's symposium with a presentation on "JT Within the Digital Tool Chain" but also conducted a prostep ivip webinar and contributed a report to the Product Data Journal. From a more technical point of view, the project group tackled topics such as JT in multi-CAD environments, JT in the context of 3D MDM and JT in MBSE, some of which will continue to be of interest in 2019.
Following the great success enjoyed this year, another JT Day is being planned for 2019 to enable users and vendors to once again come together. Other topics will include JT in context of collaboration between customers and suppliers and JT in MBSE, with the aim of further enhancing JT as an end-to-end process format. An update relating to the issue of content harmonization will also be provided.
