The Cross-Discipline Lifecycle Collaboration Forum (CDLC Forum) was set up in 2017 with the aim of improving cross-domain collaboration in engineering environments throughout the entire system lifecycle. Increasing system complexity and higher levels of dependency throughout the system lifecycle require interdisciplinary methods, processes and tool solutions. CDLC makes use of linked data technologies.
Focus in 2019 was placed on practical implementation of the work results. The two use cases, Engineering Collaboration and Manage Trace Information, provided the basis. The use case Engineering Collaboration was intended to demonstrate improved cross-domain communication in engineering using an enterprise change management process. The Manage Trace Information use case was intended to demonstrate the cross-disciplinary traceability of change requests, impact assessments, identification of errors, etc.
Pilot demonstrators for the two use cases were completed and prepared for presentation together with the system vendors (Aras, PTC and Contact Software) using a physical Mars Rover model as an example.
Initial results were presented at the prostep ivip symposium in the spring of 2019. The methods shown there were supported by videos about the demonstrators. A white paper summarizing all the results of the CDLC Forum will be published at the beginning of 2020.
A follow-up project entitled Integrated Collaboration Framework (ICF) will act on the findings of the CDLC Forum and develop them further as appropriate. The objective of the new project is to create an interdisciplinary MBSE support framework (in the form of a blueprint) to enable collaborative system development along the V-model on the basis of linked data principles.
