3D Measurement Data Management Workflow Forum

Quality assurance is a key process that supports the entire product lifecycle management process from engineering to manufacturing through to service. In the context of quality assurance, a common interface for the measurement data is required to ensure the loss-free exchange of information – from product design and tolerance management to the derivation of corresponding inspection plans right through to the creation of measurement programs and the analysis of measurement results in line with the specified quality rules. The objective of this project group is to develop a suitable interface specification, which is described in the recommendation "3D Measurement Data Management with I ++ DMS".

The work performed in 2019 allowed comprehensive requirements put forward by both user companies and implementers (see 3D MDM IF) to be implemented as adaptations and extensions in the current version (3.0) of I++ DMS. Key functional extensions to the data model and schema are the identification of measurement and reporting strategies to support different measurement principles, test validity and references to needed resources.

In 2020, focus will be placed on the further industrialization of the standard with heavy emphasis on services. Numerous – to date company-specific – extensions have already been addressed in application projects and are to be coordinated with the activities carried out by the Implementor Forum and incorporated into the standard.

In order to give dissemination of the standard a boost, it is planned that a presentation be given at the prostep ivip symposium. It will use the Mars Rover to illustrate how I++ DMS can support the quality process.
