Darmstadt, Munich, 16 March 2017 – GfSE (Gesellschaft für Systems Engineering), the German chapter of INCOSE, and ProSTEP iViP have ratified a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) regarding SysML. The primary objective is to collaborate more extensively on Systems Engineering, particularly OMG SysML, in order to create a strong voice for the development of standards which are urgently needed for the implementation of Industry 4.0, autonomous driving, electrification, etc.
“Automakers and aircraft manufacturers are fiercely pushing solutions that will enable them to present their products as a system in the respective ecosystem, virtually verify these systems, and thus offer customers, users, and stakeholders added value in terms of use, safety, and comfort. At the heart of this is SysML. It is imperative to ensure that the competent parties join forces in order to mutually drive forward the development of a standard. We will also strongly point this out at the ProSTEP iViP Symposium in May,” says Dr. Oliver Riedel, Chairman of the Board ProSTEP iViP. “The idea behind the MoU is to form a German voice for the further development of SysML, and to ensure that the industry is provided with what it needs for efficient Systems Engineering. And with this memorandum, we have defined concrete measures that will achieve this quickly,” adds Sven-Olaf Schulze, President of GfSE.
ProSTEP iViP offers extensive know-how for interoperability issues pertaining to product developments of automotive, aerospace, and supplier networks. GfSE contributes the know-how of users and practitioners in the area of Systems Engineering for processes and applications from different domains – particularly as it pertains to Model-Based System Engineering (MBSE) using the OMG SysML modeling language.
