The prostep ivip / VDA project group Functional Data Exchange (FDX) has developed a comprehensive solution with the PSI 20 / VDA 5550 standard for automated functional data exchange in the automotive industry. This standard defines both the data format and the associated data model for standardized and fully traceable exchange of functional data, including all relevant metadata.
The published recommendations of the PSI 20 / VDA 5550 standard outline specific application areas where such standardization delivers significant benefits. Particularly in the exchange of functional data between automotive manufacturers and their suppliers, as well as between automotive suppliers and their subcontractors, measurable efficiency gains are achieved. To ensure broad industry acceptance and facilitate implementation by software companies, the FDX standard is built upon the long-established and proven ASAM ODS and openMDM standards.
