Application Resources

  • ISO 10303-1xx
  • ISO 10303-5xx

The Application Resources represent an extension of the basic models. They are divided into universally valid application models (100-series) and the so-called AIC's (Application Interpreted Constructs, 500-series). The later ones describe specializations of the basic models which are used in at least two application protocols.

ISO 10303-1xx

The following example from ISO 10303-101 intends to illustrate the application character as well as the universal validity of the specified objects. Here, the geometric elements, which are defined in Part 42 (Geometry, topology and geometric models), are specialized in the context of technical drawings. In the example, a straight line is declared as a measure line in terms of ISO 10303-101.(Graphic is still being edited)

ISO 10303-5xx

The AIC's mostly deal with the description of geometric models, which use the geometric and topologic basic objects defined in ISO 10303-42, and specialize the generic 'shape_representation' object by specifying a number of conditions. By observing these, one instance represents exactly one representation of the according geometric model. Thus can be assured that all application protocols use the same specification (from ISO 10303-501) when they refer to e.g. a wireframe model.
