Term

since 2001

Mission

The merger with the ECM IF at the end of 2007 means that the focus of the PDM IF has been extended. The wealth of experience gathered continues to be incorporated in the PDM world and thus promotes in-depth integration of Engineering Change Management (ECM).

Thus, the PDM Implementor Forum (PDM-IF) provides a platform to support and consult on PDM/ECM related implementation and integration tasks using state-of-the-art standards incl. OMG PLM Services, ISO 10303 (STEP) and VDA 4965 (ECM/ECR). Instruments and services of the PDM-IF include operation and provision of a comprehensive test-environment for STEP Part 21 and OMG PLM Services, provision of an open-source reference-implementation of OMG PLM Services, creation and maintenance of usage guides and implementation guidelines, consulting as well as performance of regular international workshops.

Users and software developers from the various system vendors work together to ensure that the available solutions satisfy the requirements of cross-enterprise collaboration.

Work is performed in close cooperation with the Maintenance and ECM Internationalization Project Groups.

Current Topics

OMG PLM Services 2.0 Reference Implementation freely available for Download

The PDM-IF now offers the reference implementation for OMG PLM Services 2.0. New in this major update is the support of the complete query-language including the Specific-, XPath-, Utility and PDTnet-Queries Conformance Points as defined by the standard.

Unified Data-Model for the SASIG ECM Recommendation 2.0 – Request for Review

Members of the ProSTEP iViP Association and participants of the PDM-IF are invited to review raise issues against the latest developments of the unified data-model for the SASIS ECM Recommendation 2.0.

Interoperability Testing

The next steps of the PDM-IF are focused on interoperability testing of available. Participants are invited to contribute by, for instance, providing access to their own products and/or systems to cover a broad range of heterogeneous application scenarios.

Services

Test Environment

The PDM-IF provides test-environments for STEP Part 21 and OMG PLM Services. The test-environment for STEP Part 21 allows for verification of compliance of Part 21 files with the STEP PDM Schema. In addition, an installation of the reference-server of OMG PLM Services allows for evaluation of individual requirements and use-cases. The OMG PLM Services reference-server provides comprehensive test-data based on an extended variant of the widespread TREGO example (with the original version by courtesy of Daimler AG). All test-environments underlie regular maintenance. URL and login data on request.

Test Data

The validity of test scenarios is closely related to test data of high quality and practice orientation. The PDM-IF supports creating test data for benchmarks of certain test scenarios on regular workshops. Thereby, the relationships of the PDM-IF to other project groups of the ProSTEP iViP Association prove to be valuable.

OMG PLM Services Reference Implementation

The PDM-IF provides a freely available reference implementation of OMG PLM Services 2.0. The reference implementation consists of a client and server provided as open-source software including documentation (Download).

Implementation Guides

The PDM-IF provides comprehensive implementation guidelines for both OMG PLM Services and ECR.

International Workshops

The PDM-IF arranges regular international workshops providing participants the opportunity to discuss requirements, problems and challenges as well as to develop and share solutions with each other. In doing so, the instruments and services of the PDM-IF will be continuously adjusted to the participant's needs, and synergetic effects are made useful sustainably.
