A vehicle may be perceived as a variably configurable system of inter-linked mechatronic systems and products. Such a system represents a big challenge for its developers. The proceeding discipline-dependant specialization of sub-processes, methods and tools only reinforces the need for a harmonization across disciplines. In addition there is the factor cooperation that requires cross-company harmonized development processes.
Objective of the user-driven initiative is the definition of reliable measuring points to be able to evaluate in better time the actual product maturity across disciplines and organizations. For that purpose adequate methods and processes are to be specified supporting all development partners to the same extent and leading at the end of the day to noticeable cost savings and quality improvements.
The study „Mechatronic Process Integration“ conducted by the project group shows that there is a primary need for optimization in the following areas:
The identified need for action is to be concretized further by means of characteristic examples and use cases. The project group is looking for additional industry partners in order to set up a consortial project based on the needs for action.
