Today, state-of-the-art products differ not so much with regard to their mechanical components but rather with regard to their electric/electronics and, above all, the software used. Therefore, there is a growing demand for end-to-end support for the processes involved in mechatronic product development. But, how can the integration of mechatronic processes be achieved? What concrete problems are involved and what lies at the root of these problems? What are the actual specific requirements?
The MPI project is intended to provide a valuable contribution to answering these questions. In an initial step, existing process, breaks and problems will be analyzed within the framework of a field study. Then, based on the findings of this study, requirements and use cases will be drawn up using the ProSTEP iViP methodology. The results of this phase will be published as a ProSTEP iViP White Paper and will serve as the basis for creating an MPI project consortium.
