Mission

The solutions for product data exchange and product data integration propagated by the ProSTEP iViP Association are based on international standards. These are primarily the STEP standards ISO 10303 AP 212 und AP 214 as well as the OMG PLM Services. Over the past few years, considerable investments have been made in the development of these standards. The application and implementation of these standards result yet in the need for constant corrections, improvements and functional enhancements that have to be secured by continued maintenance and further development of the standards. Furthermore, those standards have to be updated to incorporate new technologies such as MDA, UML and XML.

In addition to these developments the standardization of JT in ISO has been promoted significantly. In doing so the project meets its obligation to transform industry requirements as quickly as possible into standards.

STEP AP 212/214

The work performed in this context focuses on the following areas:

Standards management (representation and participation in DIN and ISO)
Harmonization with OMG Standard PLM Services
Compiling and processing comments
Preparing and publishing revisions
Monitoring and influencing STEP developments relevant for AP214 und AP212, (related application areas, new methods and architecture)

Current focus lies on

Publishing the 3rd Edition of ISO 10303 (STEP) AP214.

Publication of JT as ISO Publicly Available Specification (PAS)

Concepts for the future development of STEP

The maintenance of AP214 is promoted and driven by the international automotive industry with financial support provided by the VDA, JAMA and Galia.

OMG PLM Services

After the publication of PLM Services 2.0 by the OMG no additional versions are planned at this time. The tasks concentrate on compiling and evaluating the issues that occur as a result of using the standard.
