Mission

The solutions for product data exchange and product data integration propagated by the ProSTEP iViP Association are based on international standards. These are primarily the STEP standards ISO 10303 AP 212 and AP 214 as well as OMG PLM Services.

Over the past few years, considerable investments have been made in the development of these standards. The application and implementation of these standards result in the need for corrections, improvements and functional enhancements that must be underpinned by the continued maintenance and further development of the standards. The standards must also be updated to incorporate new technologies such as MDA, UML and XML.

STEP AP 212/214

The work performed in this context focuses on the following areas:

• Standards management (representation and participation in DIN and ISO)
• Harmonization with OMG Standard PLM Services
• Compiling and processing comments
• Creating and publishing revisions
  • Monitoring and influencing STEP developments relevant AP214 and AP212, (related application areas, new methods and architectures)

Current focus lies on publishing the 3rd edition of ISO 10303 (STEP) AP 214.
Maintenance of AP214 is promoted and driven by the international automotive industry with financial support provided by the VDA, JAMA, Galia and Odette/Sweden.

OMG PLM Services

The focus of current activities lies on finalization of the specification for OMG PLM Services 2.0. This includes all the tasks required for final publication of the specification as an OMG standard.

Other tasks involve maintenance of the specification for OMG PLM Services 2.0.

The work here is performed in close cooperation with the PDM-IF.
