Term
September 2002 till December 2009

Mission
Up until now, the relationship between customer and supplier was determined by predefined processes, customer guidelines and corporate standards. Today, focus is placed on project-specific, i.e. temporary, network structures, with the general aim of reducing throughput time during the creation process while at the same time increasing quality. It is therefore vital that changes are communicated to and implemented by partners from development, planning and production as promptly as possible. The objective of the Engineering Change Management (ECM) project group is therefore to develop standards-based recommendations that provide support for the ECM processes between the cooperation partners.

Milestones
- Identification and documentation of typical interaction scenarios
- Development of the general ECM recommendation for VDA 4965
- Development of the recommendation for engineering change request (ECR) processes in cooperative partnerships, VDA 4965-1, and validation of VDA 4965-1 in industry-driven pilot scenarios
- Documentation of conformity criteria, validation rules and sample applications in a usage guide for VDA4965-1 (tbd)
- Development of the recommendation for engineering change order (ECO) processes in cooperative partnerships, VDA 4965-2, and validation of VDA 4965-2 in industry-driven pilot scenarios (tbd)
- International cooperation and harmonization activities with other bodies (e.g. SASIG) and projects (e.g. PLM Services)
