W3C
World Wide Web Consortium

The World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) is an international consortium where member organizations, a full-time staff, and the public, work together to develop standards for the World Wide Web. W3C also engages in education and outreach, develops software, and serves as an open forum for discussion about the Web. The Consortium is headed by Tim Berners-Lee, the original creator of the World Wide Web and primary author of the URL (Uniform Resource Locator), HTTP (HyperText Transfer Protocol) and HTML (HyperText Markup Language) specifications, the principal technologies that form the basis of the Web. www.w3.org

WD
Working Draft

During the concept phase, a first document, the so-called Working Draft, is derived from a New Work Item, which already contains the essential technical contents of the future standard. This includes the coordination of different technical approaches. See also: NWI, CD, DIS, FDIS and IS.

WFMS
Workflow-Managementsystem

A system that controls, coordinates, and verifies the flow of specific business processes, such as material purchasing, or plan approval procedures.

WG
Working Group

A working group in the classic meaning of the term is a group of employees who perform a common task based on an intensive division of function and labor.

White Paper

White Papers are meant to give you an overview in about 8 - 15 pages on a certain subject matter or on specific project results. Studies are comparable to White Papers, but are more detailed and therefore more comprehensive.

Workflow

(Semi-)automated processes in a data flow. A workflow is therefore an organization of the flow of events and business processes.

WSDL
Web Services Description Language

The Web Services Description Language (WSDL) is an XML format published for describing Web services.
