ProSTEP iViP Science Days 2003

It has revealed in publications since the early 1980's that mastering Virtual Product Creation and Product Data Technology has become a decisive factor for future success in high technology industries. In Virtual Product Creation all activities concerning development, design and engineering of products are supported by computer aided systems which have to be integrated through continuous processes where collaborating engineers distributed all over the world are involved. It is still a competitive challenge to equip engineers with engineering tools seamless integrated in a collaborative process supporting environment having data and knowledge necessary available in time and in the right quality.

This year's ProSTEP iViP Science Days wanted to focus more on the collaborative aspects of Virtual Product Creation. Beside traditional topics like software tools and methods for engineering, product data management and data exchange special interest has been put on management of distributed knowledge in collaborative engineering and on tools and infrastructure in a collaborative environment.
The conference committee of the ProSTEP iViP Science Days 2003 invited interested scientists, researchers and developers from the applying industry, from information and communication industry, from universities and research institutes to join the ProSTEP iViP Science Days 2003 and to submit a proposal of contribution.

Additionally the 10th anniversary of ProSTEP iViP Association has celebrated accordingly during the conference.
